If you haven’t heard of the so-called “Florida Man,” then you’ve either been living under a rock for the past ten years, or you’re from a country so far away that you don’t see American news.
Even then, however, the ridiculous headlines and stories involving a “Florida Man” have spread across the world. It all stems from the ridiculous headline-making clickbait articles entitled, “Florida Man Does [insert some crazy/ridiculous crime/activity here].”
So what exactly is the Florida Man challenge?
The Florida Man Challenge is simple – go on Google, type in your birthday, followed by “Florida Man” (e.g., July 21st Florida Man). Then, you have to go through the corresponding results, find the craziest Florida Man story that happened on your birthday and post it on social media for the world to see.
Americans are great at turning almost anything into a challenge!
All in all, the results have been nothing short of hilarious. In fact, the other night, I had to have spent at least 30 minutes scrolling through the jaw-dropping posts and headlines relating to my birthday and all of my family’s. Even if you don’t have the guts to post the crazy story, you’re bound to get a few laughs out of it for yourself, so check it out!
What Is The Florida Man Challenge?
Although the “Florida Man” headline has definitely turned into somewhat of a joke in recent years, many crazy headlines are real events that were posted in local newspapers and city publications.
After all, Florida is a vast state and is a melting p*t for a wide variety of cultures. Maybe it’s the sweltering hot summers or all of the Colombian imports (*cough, cough*).
Regardless of how and where the trend started, though, it has undeniably become a staple of American comedy. Some of the craziest headlines I’ve seen so far include:
- Florida Man steals thousands of dollars worth of rare coins and cashes them at a coin machine for $30.
- Florida Man headbutts a tree and then tries to fight an alligator.
- Florida Man thought that he stole $1,000 of painkillers (but they were really laxatives).
- …and so on…
There are literally thousands of jaw-dropping, laugh-your-b**t-off stories. That’s enough to give you funny ice-breakers and conversation starters for months if nothing else.

As I mentioned above, the trend has also turned into a birthday challenge. To complete the Florida Man Birthday Challenge, you have to Google your birthday (for example, June 5th) followed by the text “Florida Man.”

Although there’s always the chance that nothing crazy happened on your exact birthday, you’ll probably have several different stories to pick from. The goal of the challenge is to find the craziest story on the internet and post the results on your social media page.
